Corrupt’s sermon on anti- Corruption

Ironically the people released on bail by the premier anti-graft bodies are delivering sermons on crusade against corruption just to occupy key position in the post article 370 abrogation scenario in Jammu & Kashmir and surprisingly they point fingers on rivals unseated from top positions on the ideological grounds without any rhyme and reason. Junaid Azim Matoo, the ousted mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) may have indulged in corrupt practices during his tenure at SMC but unless and until the charges are not framed by an impartial investigative agency and proved with substantial evidences in a trial court, his rival Sheikh Imran who interestingly has been declared a bank fraud accused by none else than the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the highest anti-graft body in Jammu & Kashmir, has no right to talk about corruption and the corrupt in Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC). The BJP which declared Junaid Azim Matoo a foreign educated contender for the post of Mayor before his crowning at Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) just two years ago is now dubbing him incompetent obviously for refusing to endorse the measures taken by the central government in post article 370 abrogation scenario in Jammu & Kashmir. Releasing former Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran on charges of involvement in a bank fraud case days before arranging and managing the ouster of Junaid Azim Matoo as Mayor SMC speaks volumes about the intents of the central government in releasing Sheikh Imran. Question can be asked that why Sheikh Imran was released only few days before the no confidence motion was moved against Junaid Azim Matoo at SMC.
Releasing Sheikh Imran a bank fraud accused days before the tabling of a no confidence against Junaid Azim Matoo at SMC and inaction against Baseer Ahmed Khan presently facing trial in Gulmarg land scam are the two huge compromises of the central on crusade against corruption in Jammu & Kashmir and as such owes explanation to the people of Jammu & Kashmir on both the counts.
The government owes an explanation on this count to the people of Jammu & Kashmir who want the application of similar yard sticks against all the corrupt people of both the political and administrative backgrounds. Interestingly a trial court in Baramulla recently asked the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) to reinvestigate the Gulmarg land scam vis-à-vis the application of new documents and materials submitted against the prime accused Baseer Ahmed Khan the advisor to the incumbent Lt Governor Grish Chander Murmu and others but the central government beating drums on anti-graft measures in Jammu & Kashmir did not dare to remove Khan Baseer Khan from the highest position till the exoneration from the trial court . Interestingly Sheikh Imran who just two years ago proclaimed himself a “Mujahid means militant” is now saying that he does not subscribe to the views of any political party without offering clarification on his association with J&K Peoples Conference the party he had joined just to retain the position of Deputy Mayor previously. Defectors even if facing corruption charges are now obviously not untouchable for both the central government and as well LG Murmu led J& K Government.
