Brussels: The European Commission announced Monday humanitarian assistance worth over $49 million to support Afghan refugees and their families in Iran and Pakistan as well as to help victims of conflict in Afghanistan.
“The EU’s assistance announced today will help hundreds of thousands of people affected by conflicts and natural disasters in South-West and Central Asia,” said EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides in a statement.
“I was recently in the region and saw first-hand the humanitarian needs.”
He made the announcement after meeting today with Neil Buhne, UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Pakistan.
