Spell out roadmap for revival of sick industrial units in J&K: Gupta

JAMMU: Former MLC and State Secretary National Conference Rattan Lal Gupta today urged Jammu and Kashmir Administration to spell out a roadmap for revival of sick industrial units, which have received tremendous setback in the wake of lockdown due to corona virus, a statement issued here said.
“The industrial units in Jammu and Kashmir were already in the bad shape and the current situation post COVID-19 has taken toll of these, rendering most of them almost sick” Mr Gupta said in a statement, adding that these are needed to be brought back on rails to save the industrialists and those getting sustenance out of these.
Gupta said the situation has further become precarious with the departure of migrant labourers and the industrial units portray a very grim scenario. In such a situation, the administration must come forward, devise a mechanism for their revival and announce packages in terms of waivers and financial push up in consultation with the stakeholders, he said and hoped that the concerned agency will devise a suitable revival plan in this regard.
The State Secretary observed that while the government has panned out schemes for start ups under the Aatmnirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, it is distressfully silent over the existing units that have received a huge dent in recent months. He said industrialisation assumes immense significance, not only for the productivity but also generating jobs and therefore there is greater need for injecting new impetus to the industrial units that have almost turned defunct or are not optimally functional.
Gupta sought a viable scheme with an economic package to put the industrial units back on the rails, as these involved the future of a significant chunk of population including skilled and unskilled work force.
