Shopian/June,8: Four militants were on Monday morning killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Pinjoora village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A police official said gunfight broke out in Pinjoora village after government forces launched a cordon-and-search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the village. Four militants were killed and three forces personnel injured in the heavy exchange of fire, the official said . He however said that identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.
Earlier an official said that a joint team of Police, army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the village .
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering a gunfight.
As reported already 5 militants including a top Hizb commander were killed on last Sunday in Reban Village of the district .
Internet services snapped Sunday morning continue to remain shut in the district.
