A&SH and Food ministers’ lay foundation stone of trout fish farm at Raikeban in Rajouri

Rajouri/May,26: Minister for Sheep, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli Saturday in presence of Minister for Food Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs, Information Department Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali laid the foundation stone of Trout fish farm at village Rakiban in Drahal constituency.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Dr, Shahid Iqbal Choudhry, ADDC A S Chib, Director Fisheries and others officers of civil administration and police were present on the occasion..

It is pertinent to mention here that the project is first of its kind in Jammu division after establishing in Kokernag in Kashmir valley. The Hatchery Mini Trout Fish project would be completed at the cost of Rs 1.17 lacs and it serves as basement in supplying and supporting of setting up trout culture in nearby districts like Poonch and Reasi.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for Sheep Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Ghani Kohli said the government is very much concerned about uplifting lives of youths of rural areas.

“Completion  of this project not only ensure the availability of quality fish in the markets of twin districts but also uplift the rural economy of the regions & the avenues for generating employment  opportunities for the locals,” he added .

Kohli said live stocks play an important role in the economy of the farmers adding that they are the source of living hood to the majority of the people in Rajouri and Poonch. He said the government is very much keen to link rural youth with the schemes which are helping them in establishing their own small scale economic units.

The Minister further said various schemes are underway to improve the socio-economic conditions of rural areas with special focus on improving the agricultural allied sector.

While speaking on the occasion, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said this project will surely helps in improving the economic condition of locals as the project will expand with the passage of time. ‘Suitability of   local environmental conditions would be helpful in setting of trout fish destination in the region’, he added.
