Srinagar/May,19: An unidentified militant was on Tuesday killed and a CRPF trooper and policeman were injured in an ongoing gunfight at Nawa Kadal in old Sriangar city. The operation is still underway, police said.
Officials said one CRPF trooper and a police man sustained injuries in the initial exchange of gunfire that broke out around midnight at about 2.00 A.M. There had been a complete lull for about six hours and fresh firing started in the late morning hours again.
A residential structure has also been damaged in the exchange of firing between militants and the government forces. This is the first encounter post Abrogation of Article 370 on August 5 last year in Kashmir. Presence of one more militant is not being ruled out.
“W are going slow to ensure there is no collateral damage. The area is congested and we are taking full time to ensure no damage to life and property of civilians,” said the officials
