Srinagar/May,19: A gunfight broke out on Monday morning between government forces in Nawa Kadal area of old Srinagar city , police said.
Reports said that a gunfight broke out in Nawa Kadal area of Srinagar city after a cordon and search operation was launched by government forces in the area.
Kashmir zone police also confirmed on its twitter handle that a gunfight has started in Nawa Kadal area of city. A top police officer said that a gunfight is on in Nawa Kadal area of city.
This is after a long lull of almost two years that a gunfight has been reported from Srinagar the summer capital .
Police sources however said that after initial contact and exchange of firing, an explosion took place after which there was no firing
