Srinagar: After heavy snowfall Monday this 150 power transformers are reported damaged in valley and 50 of them damaged in Srinagar would be reinstalled in the concerns areas only after three days.
When contacted Chief Engineer Power Development Department Aijaz Ahmad told Kashmir Horizon over phone “ after fresh snowing in valley on Monday this week 150 power transformers have been damaged and 50 of them are reported damaged alone in Srinagar city”. When asked about the time span required for repairing the damagded power transformers in valley the Chief Engineer Power Development Department Kashmir said “ it would take 3-4 days for the department to reinstall the damaged 50 transformer after repairs in Srinagar and 100 more transformer damaged in other parts of the valley will be repaired and reinstalled in coming 5-10 days”. Saying that the power development department is facing shortage of funds and as wells as equipments required for repairs of the power transformers in valley the Chief Engineer said “ we try our best to arranged both money and material for the repairs of the transformer but face huge difficulties in maintaining the power supply in valley due to frequent heavy snowfalls this winter”.
