New Delhi/Aug, 9: Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday that Pakistan should accept reality and stop meddling India’s internal affairs as Islamabad continued its pushback against New Delhi’s decision to scrap Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and divide the state into two union territories.
India has also reached out to other nations to explain its stand on Kashmir, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said at a briefing.
Pakistan on Wednesday had decided to suspend bilateral trade and downgrade its diplomatic relations with India in a meeting of the National Security Committee chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
India on Thursday responded to Pakistan’s decision to downgrade bilateral ties, saying the decision was “not supported by facts on the ground.”
The Indian government said it regrets the steps announced by Pakistan on Wednesday and would urge that country to review them so that normal channels for diplomatic communications are preserved.
