Srinagar: Kashmir SSI Unit Holders Association Wednesday asked Governor Administration to refrain from abolition of toll tax at Lakhanpur. They said the move will have serious implications for the Industrial Sector in Kashmir.
The SSI Unit holders raised serious concern in respect of repeated attempts of some vested interest elements to destroy the Industrial Sector. They said abolition of toll tax will result in huge financial Loses to the State Exchequer as well as to the Industrial Sector who are working in State in spite of all the odds from past 30 years as they are facing stiff competition from the Manufacturers and Traders from outside the State.
They said Toll Tax at Lakhanpur is a safeguard for the Industrial Sector to check the import and export of unaccounted Goods, Contraband and other banned items to and fro from other parts of the country.
“If the Governor Administration withdraws the Toll Tax at Lakhanpur Checkpost, whole State shall be flooded with unaccounted goods and other related material which will prove as death nail for the Industrial Sector of the State.
“We request the Governor Satya Pal Malik to kindly intervene into the matter to assure that the Toll Tax at Lakhanpur will not be abolished,” they told CNS adding they will hit to roads in case toll tax is abolished at Lakanpur.
