Srinagar : Police on Monday evening arrested three top militants after a brief shootout in the outskirts of Kashmir capital Srinagar.
Sources said that government forces laid a naka at Shalteng after receiving credible inputs that a vehicle carrying a couple of militants with arms and ammunition is on way and heading towards Srinagar-Baramulla road.
Sources added that as the government forces intercepted the vehicle near Shalteng, the armed militants opened fire and managed to escape from the spot. However, a militant according to police source received a bullet and the vehicle was against stopped at another naka near hospital.
Reports said that militants tried to flee from the spot, however, Force personnel encircled all of them. They were bundled into a vehicle and shifted to unknown destination.
A police officer while confirming the incident said that three militants were arrested from the vehicle. “We have seized the vehicle and detained militants. The injured militant has been shifted to JVC hospital for treatment,” he said and declined to reveal the name of the arrested militants.
