Srinagar : With a view to review the ongoing developmental activities in Srinagar city especially in parts of old Srinagar city, Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar chaired a high-level meeting with senior officers, here Thursday.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Health Atal Dulloo, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Farooq Lone, Secretary Youth Services & Sports Sarmad Hafeez, DIG Central V K Virdhi, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rasheed, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Kunzes Dolma, SMC Commissioner Peerzada Hafeezullah and officers from other concerned departments including Fire & Emergency Services.
Addressing the officers, the Advisor stressed for intensifying the developmental activities in the areas which needs immediate attention in terms of engaging youth in sports and other related activities, improvement/up-gradation in existing infrastructure in health and other important sectors, sanitation and proper drainage facilities, establishment of de-addiction centre, providing a suitable platform to the people who are largely dependent on various hand crafts and for selling their products by setting up of craft bazars etc.
He asked the officers to accord focused attention to the areas which are less attended and to redress the issues people are facing living in parts of Srinagar city. He asked Secretary YS&S and DC Srinagar to take steps to engage youth of these areas in sports related activities and developing sports infrastructure for better facilities to them.
Focusing on proper sanitation arrangements, the Advisor directed SMC to ensure regular cleanliness and deployment of adequate staff in these areas besides ensuring regular collection of garbage from the area.
Discussion was also held on improving drainage facilities by taking up new projects and completion of ongoing drainage works.
Stress was also laid on improving healthcare services for the benefit of people by providing better services at all health centres and hospitals located in parts of old Srinagar. The Advisor asked Health authorities and DC Srinagar to ensure 24×7 presence of doctors and paramedic staff at the health institutions and to take stern action against those not taking their job seriously.
Wherever required, reforms to be initiated to bring positive change on the ground besides management of doctors and emergency staff should be well managed for making health facilities operational all the time, the Advisor said.
The police department was asked to establish a de-addiction centre which should be managed by the experts.
K Vijay Kumar asked the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to review the status of projects taken up under PMDP so that they can get a push for their timely completion.
