Shopian: Thousands of mourners participated in the last rites of South Kashmir civilian Rayees Ahmed who succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS here in Srinagar city.
Rayees Ahmed was the third youth who lost his life in Army firing at Ganowpora Shopian on Saturday. Earlier, Javaid Ahmed Bhat and Suhail Ahmed were killed. With the death of Rayees Ahmed, the toll reached three.
Government has already ordered a probe into this incident while Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on the floor of the House claimed that FIR against Army will be taken to its logical conclusion.
Eyewitnesses said amid pro-freedom slogans, Rayees was laid to rest while men, women, children and old participated in his funeral procession at his native Narapora village of Shopian district.
Four back to back funeral prayers were offered for him.
He is survived by his 3 brothers, one sister and elderly mothers. Rayees according to doctors had suffered a bullet in his head and despite the efforts put by medicos, he couldn’t survive.
